Identifying the most commonly prescribed agents in the major drug classes Thanks to this course, I have gained a new perspective on various pharmaceuticals, including the drug class and widely given medications. Previously, I considered insulin and metformin to be the essential diabetes medications. I discovered that a patient’s age, comorbidities, employment requirements, and socioeconomic situations are considered along the course of the disease. Patients with diabetes who may be concerned about their financial situation can be offered less expensive anti-diabetic medications like thiazolidinediones and sulfonylureas.
