Having malpractice claims regarding safety issues related to patient care is a problem that would need to be addressed in a timely manner. The first step to address this problem would be to ensure there is a performance improvement and/or quality improvement committee in place to address these issues. These committees are used to identify policies, procedures, and/or processes that need attention to improve or enhance patient care, and ensure that safe and quality care is delivered.
